AGTECH PR ANNOUNCES INAUGURAL AGTECH ADVISORY BOARD

April 30, 2024, Kansas City, MO – AgTech PR, a global communications firm specializing in agriculture technology, announced today its inaugural Advisory Board composed of leaders driving transformative change in agriculture. Advisors will provide AgTech PR with industry insights and strategic guidance to help advance the organization's purpose.

“When I founded AgTech PR, I set out three objectives: to champion technology that adds tangible value to our food system; to collaborate with smart, passionate people; and to help lift up women in agriculture,” said Jennifer Goldston, AgTech PR founder and CEO. “As the agtech landscape advances, the know-how and experience of these advisors will help us continue to build and protect our clients’ brand reputation.”

AgTech PR represents a range of start-ups and scale-ups in ag and food technology. With an ag tech-savvy team skilled in PR, marketing, and digital communications, the company remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting entrepreneurs at every stage of their journey.

“Once the technology is proven and they are poised for growth, start-ups must effectively tell their story. This is where we step in,” said Goldston.

A Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion in Agriculture

Comprised of four independent and diverse members representing the global agriculture and agtech community, the Advisory Board underscores AgTech PR's unwavering commitment to diversity and inclusion. As a woman-owned enterprise with a predominantly female workforce, the composition of the Advisory Board mirrors the distinct ethos of the company.

Julie Borlaug, Borlaug Foundation & Borlaug Consulting: A revered figure in agriculture, Julie Borlaug has tirelessly advocated for smallholder farmers and accessible technology for over two decades. Her multifaceted efforts across public and private sectors have propelled innovation in sustainable agriculture and fostered collaborations between diverse entities. As a distinguished public speaker on both domestic and international platforms, Julie's unwavering commitment to navigating change amid a rapidly evolving global landscape remains unparalleled.

Bonnie Brayton, Fulcrum Global Capital: A scientist and investor, Bonnie Brayton brings more than 15 years of experience in plant sciences and biotech to Fulcrum Global Capital, an early-stage ag tech venture capital fund. Her tenure at Corteva Agriscience involved developing novel technologies in doubled haploid breeding technologies for corn and sunflower, as well as scouting crop protection technologies and biological products for Corteva’s R&D.

Erin Fitzgerald, Erin Fitzgerald Consulting: A global influencer, Erin Fitzgerald positioned the U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance to serve as the secretariat for the Decade of Ag, a first-of-its-kind, sector-wide movement to fight climate change and build a new future for food agriculture by 2030. Erin has delivered game-changing presentations at the United Nations Food System Summit, Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP) and World Economic Forum, presenting agriculture as a solution to climate change.

Sherry Frey, NielsonIQ: Renowned for her insights into consumer wellness trends, Sherry Frey  serves as Vice President of Wellness at NielsonIQ, providing invaluable guidance to major food companies. Her extensive background in marketing and communications offers a unique consumer-centric perspective, bridging the gap between farm and fork while elucidating the "food as medicine" paradigm.

“There is a great need for clarity at a time when investments are not yet in line with demand by farmers and consumers,” Goldston said. “With our inaugural Advisory Board, we are creating the freedom and space to learn, adapt and grow as communicators and discover innovative ways to support the future of ag tech.”

CropLife: Improved Communication Helps AgTech Start-ups Compete for Investments in 2021

As adoption of new technology continued from plant to plate, AgTech investment remained strong in 2020 despite challenges. While many investors focused first on ensuring existing portfolio stability, opportunities for start-ups to attract new investors existed but within a more competitive virtual ecosystem. While 2021 brings renewed optimism, the virtual shift requires management teams to implement a strategic communication plan that amplifies more relevant and impactful networking activities.

An Introduction.

2020 was the year I committed to take the polar bear plunge. I took a deep breath. Gathered my courage. And, started a new business. Fear, uncertainty and self-doubt are normal I’m told… despite a global pandemic, financial crisis and culture war. But in 2020, it became the adventure I needed most of all.

2020 was the year I committed to take the polar bear plunge. I took a deep breath. Gathered my courage. And, started a new business. Fear, uncertainty and self-doubt are normal I’m told… despite a global pandemic, financial crisis and culture war. But in 2020, it became the adventure I needed.

Like many, my family hunkered down. And despite missed graduations and lost jobs, we were more fortunate than many. Working remotely has been my way of life and working in agriculture means the work never stops. But 2020 felt different for the ag industry as well.

Agriculture is at a unique tipping point when technology must advance to feed our growing population and protect our planet. This innovation is coming from the startup community… from agribusiness alumni striking out on their own... from next gen entrepreneurs daring to disrupt… and from innovative farmers whose products we crave but whose toil many know little about.

Drawing on my network, in a very short time I was helping inventors, scientists and engineers craft their story and communicate the promise of their technology, and partnering with them to make necessary connections to accelerate their success. By focusing on agriculture and food start-ups, I’m hoping to do my part to positively impact this tipping point.
